The Dana O’Dell Memorial Scholarship Fund
This writing scholarship fund is dedicated to the memory of Dana O’Dell.
A fierce warrior, a formidable force, a weaver of wild words, and a lover of life. Dana passed away on Christmas Eve of last year, and left behind a devastated family, a collection of grieving friends the world over, and an unfinished book about her journey.

Dana was one of the first people to enroll in Word Up – the first iteration of the workshop now called UNLEASHED. She was an integral part of the community from the beginning. One hell of a writer, a fire-cracker of encouragement and love with an affinity for cuss words. Immediately, she had my heart.
The year before she died, in the midst of her journey through cancer, I had the honor of acting as Dana’s writing coach. It was a profound gift to have her life revealed to me through her words.
Dana never got to complete her book. This scholarship exists in her honor. And in memory of all those who left this earth without the chance to tell their story. It exists so that you can pick up the torch left by our brilliant flame-haired goddess – and write the hell out of your story and your life.

Remember – this application is not about polished perfection, or judging the quality of your writing. It is about your heart, your need and your desire to write.
Provide as many details as possible, include writing samples if you wish (optional) – but most of all – just be you.

For each workshop or offering I will donate three full scholarships.

100% of your donation will be added to the Dana O’Dell Memorial Scholarship Fund. and will be used to fund those who wish to participate in workshops, programs and intensives that they would otherwise be unable to afford.
